Whether its a week long tour exploring the West Cornwall valleys or the Isles of Scilly or a shorter excursion on one of our Cornwall, Devon or Somerset trips, we guarantee you’ll see birds on our tours and excursions.

**NOW FULL** Isles of Scilly  – October 2020 – Our annual six night stay on the Isles of Scilly has been one of our most popular trips for the last 10 years. We sail from Penzance on the Scillonian III on Saturday 24th 2020 headed for St Mary’s where we will spend the week looking for unusual visitors and occasionally chasing rarities across the islands. There will always be time for a more relaxed pace of birding and on certain days we will explore some of the island hotspots like, Lower Moors Nature Reserve, Porthellick Pool and trails, Holy Vale and the tranquil Carreg Dhu gardens. We will spend at least two days off St Mary’s birding on St Agnes and Tresco.

**COMING IN 2020** – West Cornwall Tour – Our 6 night October tour will see us visit the famous valleys of far west Cornwall. Porthgwarra and Nanquidno are all synonymous with rarites and we will spend time in  each looking for Autumn migrants. Our accommodation at The Old Quay House overlooks the RSPB Hayle Estuary Reserve and we will time our visits here to coincide with the high tides. We will also visit Marazion Marsh and Mounts Bay and the Gwithian and North Cliffs area. See WEST CORNWALL TOUR tab for full details.

East Dartmoor Day TripSunday 24th May 2020 – Our May trip into Devon is one of our most popular excursions. Yarner Woods on the East side of Dartmoor holds some spectacular woodland specialities and we expect to see Pied and Spotted Flycatcher, Common Redstart and the elusive Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. With a supporting cast of Great and Green Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Siskin, Tree Pipit, Yellowhammer and Dartford Warbler and plenty more, our morning will be ‘bird-filled’! After a pub lunch we will head to RSPB Bowling Green Marsh in search of waders and wildfowl. The reserve has great viewing facilities and we hope to see good numbers of Black-tailed Godwits and Avocet.   See EAST DARTMOOR tab for details.

The Avalon Marshes, Somerset (Full Day) Sunday 17th May 2020 – The incredible reedbeds and marshes of RSPB Ham Wall and Shapwick Heath NNR are our destination on this day long excursion. This huge area is home to an amazing array of birds and we spend the day in  pursuit of Great White, Cattle and Little Egrets Bitterns, Hobby, Marsh Harrier, Barn Owl, Bearded Tits, Water Rail, Garganey, Reed, Sedge, Garden, Cetti’s and Willow Warblers. Past rarities have included Red-footed Falcon and Purple Heron. See AVALON MARSHES tab for details.

Nightjar Evenings (NEW dates for 2020 now confirmed!) – Join us at Croft Pascoe on the Lizard for an evening trip to see and hear the mystical European Nightjar. Whilst we wait for these amazing birds to begin their crepuscular activities we will explore the woods and pool in search of other species like Cuckoo, Grasshopper Warbler, Spotted Flycatcher, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Siskin and possibly Dartford Warbler. See NIGHTJAR EXCURSION tab for details.

Yarner Woods and Bowling Green Marsh RSPB, Devon – Sunday 15th November 2020 – Our new winter trip to Yarner will allow you some amazing close ups of woodland species as they use the feeding station right outside the hide windows! An excellent opportunity for the photographers amongst you and a great way to practice your ID skills on woodland species that you would otherwise normally see flitting through the trees. We will also walk up onto the moor where we will hope to see winter thrushes, pipits and finches including Redpolls and Siskin. We will keep a close eye and ear out for the elusive Lesser Spotted Woodpecker! For Full details see HERE.

West Cornwall (day tour) – Sunday 6th December 2020 – Another new day tour for 2020!! This is a full day crammed with birds as we use as much daylight as we have in December! The itinerary will be governed by the tide as we will visit the Hayle Estuary to experience the hundreds of Wildfowl, waders and gulls protected by this fantastic SSSI. We will also head to Mounts Bay, stopping at strategic viewing points to look for sea ducks like Scoters and Eider and Divers. It has been possible to see all six species of diver in the bay at one time and we will be hoping that the regular Pacific Diver returns for us! For Full details see HERE
