We will depart from our HQ at Hayle at 7am for an early start to our day long excursion to Devon. An early start is essential at our first destination, the superb mixed woodland and heathlands of Yarner Woods. This amazing woodland hosts a variety of specialist woodland species like Pied and Spotted Flycatchers, Common Redstart, Wood Warbler and all three Woodpecker species. We will spend time in the two hides that give incredible views of such birds as Nuthatch, Siskin, Marsh Tit, Bullfinch, Goldfinch, Blue, Great. Coal and Long-tailed Tits as they use the feeders within a few feet of us! It’s a photographers dream! We will continue through the woods experiencing Garden and Willow Warblers, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Treecreeper and Mistle Thrush, before spending some time on the heathland where Tree Pipit, Yellowhammer, Redpoll and the elusive Dartford Warbler will be our quarry.

After a pub lunch (not included in the price) we will walk to Sousson’s Plantation and the moorland around Postbridge. Previous clients have seen Crossbill, Lesser Whitethroat, Common Redstart, Whinchat, Cuckoo, Red Kite, Goshawk and Hobby. We should also see Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, Wheatear, Stock Dove, Treecreeper, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Jay, Spotted Flycatcher and possible Dipper.
