Yarner and Bowling Green Marsh Winter Tour

80.00 £

Our new winter trip to Yarner will allow you some amazing close ups of woodland species as they use the feeding station right outside the hide windows! An excellent opportunity for the photographers amongst you and a great way to practice your ID skills on woodland species that you would otherwise normally see flitting through the trees. We will also walk up onto the moor where we will hope to see winter thrushes, pipits and finches including Redpolls and Siskin. We will keep a close eye and ear out for the elusive Lesser Spotted Woodpecker!

After a pub lunch* we will head for RSPB Bowling Green Marsh where we should catch up with some impressive flocks of Black-tailed Godwits and Avocets. Winter Ducks here should include Wigeon, Teal, Shoveler, Pintail and Gadwall and we may see Water Rail, Reed Bunting and Cetti’s Warblers in the reed beds. After a while in the hides we will walk the short distance to the platform to overlook the main estuary where we hope to see more waders and wildfowl such as Greenshank, Redshank, Oystercatcher, Knot, Dunlin, Shelduck, Geese and more.

We will meet at Cornwall Birdwatching HQ at Hayle at 7am for the onward journey to Yarner. We can arrange pick up and drop offs along the A30 corridor if needs be.

*Cost does not include the lunch. We usually stop at The Dolphin Inn at Bovey Tracey for lunch. They are always welcoming of our groups and the food is excellent and good value.

Please bring warm, weatherproof suitable clothing and footwear. Stout boots or wellies are advisable. This is a steady tour and does not require a lot of walking! Flask of warm drink and a snack are advisable too.

**Please note, there is a £40 non-refundable deposit should you cancel after booking. (Up to 7 days before the day of the trip) If we cancel the trip due to unforeseeable circumstances then you will be fully refunded the £80.**
